Description
LMDA is a complex nutrient medium that will detect most organisms commonly encountered in a brewery. This media is used for the detection and enumeration of bacteria and yeast.
Acid producing bacteria, because of their ability to dissolve calcium carbonate, will be identified by the development of a clear zone around the colonies.
Furthermore, identification of the colonies will be facilitated by the characteristic color reactions.
This media can be made selective for bacteria detection by the addition of Actidione (cycloheximide) to suppress culture yeast growth.
